West Peoria Beautiful
Unlike the work of the typical committee, this summer’s efforts of the West Peoria Beautification Committee are pleasantly visible at various locations throughout the city. On the corner of Rohmann and Sterling, passers-by are greeted by flowers and a “Thank You” sign listing all the West Peorians responsible for this project of the WP Beautification Committee. Mike and Jan Powers, David Pittman, and Bob DeSutter planted the flowers. Jan, David, and other community volunteers see to it that the flowers are watered as needed. The sites by the “Welcome to West Peoria” signs at Madison Park Golf Course and on Sterling Hill were landscaped by Jim McCarter, Bob DeSutter, and Terry Masters. These volunteers spent many hours of hard work digging and laying blocks under the signs. David rebuilt the walls at the corners. A very special “thank you” goes to all these volunteers who have worked so hard to make West Peoria beautiful. Also, the WPRA would like to thank Ace Hardware, Best Buds, the city of West Peoria, John Deal Insurance, and Charles McDonald for their support of this project.
