Sep 17, 2010 Membership Meeting Minutes

  Call to Order
  • David Pittman, President, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and began with the Pledge of Allegiance
Board of Directors Report
  • Candidates Night- Candidates in attendance will be Jehan Gordon and Montelongo. Sheldon Shafer will have a substitute and DK Hirner will have a substitute. Refreshments will be provided by Lynn and Lynn will invite WP City officials. Format- time everyone 3 to 4 minutes opening statement. 2 minute time limit on responses to questions. Maggie and Lynn will be the time keepers.
  • David reviewed the meeting highlights from the past board meeting. Minute approval to be deferred until next month.
Treasurer's Report
  • Maggie presented the August Financial Statements.
  • Beginning Checking Account Balance was $8,002.72 and ended the month with $7,397.36.
  • Saving Account for August began with $2,511.02 and ended August with $5,186.55.
Newsletter
  • October issue will be distributed on the first of the month. December newsletter deadline is November 10th.
Website
  • Potential email list was suggested, with limited number of updates within a month. Lynn will compile a proposal by the next board meeting.
Night out Against Crime
  • Held September 11 at the Franciscan Center from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. Approximately 50 youths participated in the bike rodeo. Jehan Gordon, 92nd State Representative was in attendance.
Board Officer Elections
  • Board Member elections were held. Maggie Moore, Treasurer, Ward 4 ran unopposed for reelection. Beth Gilbert made motion to reelect Maggie Moore, seconded by Loretta Fehl. Motion carried.
  • Lynn Dempsey, Vice President, At Large Board member, ran unopposed for reelection. Maggie Moore made motion to reelect Lynn Dempsey, seconded by Loretta Fehl. Motion carried.
  • Beth Reusch, Secretary, Ward 2 ran unopposed for reelection. Lynn Dempsey made motion to reelect Beth Reusch, seconded by Loretta Fehl. Motion carried.
Beautification Committee Report
  • No report
Education Committee
  • Currently looking for volunteer to lead the committee.
  • Principal Blumer will be invited to a member meeting this fall to speak.
Social Activities Committee
  • First Concert in the park was held July 11th indoors due to weather. Second concert in the part was held August 8th. Seventy people attended.
Future Meeting Speakers
  • Bill Woolard, would like to speak about the history of the trees on Madison Golf Course in January or February. David Pittman would then provide a tour to follow.
